The Closure of Tezos DeFi Hackathon 2022 and Further Plans of Tezos Ukraine
We at Tezos Ukraine hoped that the war would end, and that we would resume the Tezos DeFi Hackathon 2022 and announce the winners. This was not meant to be. Russia keeps on terrorizing our cities, but life has to move on. Here, we’ll talk about what we plan for the year.
The Results of the Tezos DeFi Hackathon 2022
On February 1st, the Tezos DeFi Hackathon 2022 kicked off with a prize pool of $260 000.
We had 1125 participants forming 150 teams. They got the help of 11 technical and 35 mentors experienced in business and management. We’ve arranged 74 meetups with technical mentors, 4 workshops, 3 meetups and a FAQ library.
On February 23rd, the first news of the russian invasion reached our ears. The participants asked us to move the deadline for project submission, and so we did. The next day, the war broke out. We hoped we could postpone the finals until the better days, but now we have to close it.
How to Continue Developing on Tezos
The Tezos Foundation invited participants to continue developing on Tezos. To do so, you need to fill out a form describing your experiences, plans, and projects.
By the time of publication, 34 teams have submitted applications describing their projects, and we have already transferred them to the Tezos Foundation and all the hackathon partners. Furthermore, 3 teams offered the Kolibri community to fund the finalization and launch of projects that originated at the hackathon. The community voted in favour of the projects!
The completed forms are reviewed by the Tezos Foundation and the hackathon partners whose challenges were taken up by a team. If the project is approved, the Tezos Foundation technical experts will make recommendations on how to improve it and discuss further support and the amount of the grant.
If you want to work with the Tezos Foundation, fill out the form right now. Teams can continue working on Tezos without the Tezos Foundation though.
Future Hackathons
If you enjoy the spirit of competition and hackathons, just wait. We are planning new hackathons and doing it very seriously: we analyze the experiences of the Tezos DeFi Hackathon 2022, come up with topics and look for more ways to give all participants the tasks they will definitely enjoy.
This year, we are planning three more hackathons dedicated to the DeFi, NFT, and GameFi industries. We’ll try to get more technical mentors and specialized workshops to make the most out of the Tezos ecosystem.
