Bees, Tokens, and Baguettes: Team Vitality Launches V.Hive on Tezos
In January, the eSports team Team Vitality announced a three-year partnership with Tezos. In addition to the Tezos logo on their uniforms, Team Vitality has already announced the launch of Project V.HIVE and minted the first token passes for fans.
In this post, we take a closer look at Team Vitality’s plans for developing a fan community on Tezos and explain how V.HIVE and the Support-to-Earn mechanic will help develop cyber sports.
Who Is Team Vitality
Team Vitality is a French eSports team. They compete in COD, CS:GO, F1, FIFA, Fortnite, LoL and other popular games.
They are quite strong: they are fifth in the world in CS:GO team ranking, fifth among European teams in League of Legends, and fourth in the Fortnite duo. Team Vitality has 1 million subscribers on their Instagram and half a million viewers watch their broadcasts on Twitch.
In 2019, the team opened the V.Hive headquarters in Paris, a three-story complex for training, local tournaments, and fan meetings. In 2022, Team Vitality partnered with Tezos and decided to scale up V.Hive on the Tezos blockchain creating a digital space for fans with activities and rewards. This project was also called V.HIVE.
How V.HIVE Works
V.HIVE is a fan engagement program with a Support-to-Earn concept. For supporting Team Vitality on social networks and at events, the fans will receive digital rewards as well as exclusive items such as limited edition merchandise, event tickets, meet-and-greets with players, and backstage passes.
In July, Team Vitality organized an NFT V.Hive Pass giveaway. They used Kukai Wallet with wallet creation via Google accounts or social media to make onboarding easier for users unfamiliar with cryptocurrency. On July 8, the giveaway ended, and on July 13, the team began sending tokens to the participants of the airdrop.
The V.Hive Passes themselves are FA2 standard NFTs, which means they can be sold at objkt.com or Rarible. If you missed the drop, but want to participate in V.Hive, consider checking the marketplaces.
The Team Vitality roadmap for 2022 includes several V.Hive-related events:
- July — the announcement of the first V.Hive Pass utility features;
- August — Meet your Bees;
- September — the announcement of offline events for V.Hive members and collaborations;
- October-December — beta testing and the launch of the mobile app, quests, and new tokenization options.
Connect to the V.Hive Discord server to learn more about new events and activities at V.Hive. There will be announcements, explanations of Support-to-Earn mechanics, Team Vitality game schedules, and memes about cybersports and Tezos.
