The Tezos Community Donates $300,000 to Ukraine

Tezos' charitable initiatives in support of Ukraine have raised 100,000 tez, or approximately $300,000 at the time of writing. The total amount of donations to Ukraine in all cryptocurrencies has exceeded $100 million!

Here’s how Ukraine is using this money and what we’ve already given to our defenders.

How Tezos Stands With Ukraine Used the $100,000

On March 2 we launched Tezos Stands with Ukraine together with MadFish Solutions to raise funds for the Ukrainian military. The community donated 29k tez or around $100k at the time.

Of that, we converted $41,000 into BTC and sent it to the charity fund Come Back Alive. We gradually used another $53,000 to procure thermal imaging cameras, bulletproof vests, medical supplies, and other useful items.

At the beginning of the war, we were helping the territorial defense forces of Kyiv and Odesa, the hometowns of the Tezos Ukraine team. Now we are focused on helping the territorial defense forces of Mykolaiv and Kherson, the largest cities in the south of Ukraine that are currently on the frontline, and we are trying to help their defenders. In addition to the necessary communications equipment, body armor, and optics, we also procured two cars for the volunteers.

Outside of Tezos and the cryptocurrency world, the Tezos Ukraine team also supports our relatives and acquaintances who are serving in the Armed Forces of Ukraine, treating the wounded, or volunteering.

FxHash and Versum Also Used $200,000 of the Funds Raised

The marketplaces FxHash and Versum have launched a smart contract to raise funds. Over the course of two months, the community has donated 70k tez (around $200,000). The funds have been sent to seven international charities. They help Ukrainian refugees, wounded military and civilians, repressed journalists, and other victims of the russian aggression.

According to tzstats, Tezos users sent 70 thousand tez to the charity contract. We cannot say how exactly the foundations used the funds they received, but we believe they have already helped Ukrainians.

Ukrainian Charities Received Over $100 Million

In the first week of the war, Ukraine’s Ministry of Digital Transformation launched Aid For Ukraine, a website to collect donations in popular cryptocurrencies. Over the two months of operation, it collected $60 million worth of coins.

Of these, $45 million has already been used to buy sights, thermal imagers, and other optical equipment (15 thousand units), 30 thousand bulletproof vests and other equipment, 416 thousand field rations, and almost 400 thousand units of medicine and field medical kits.
